Although It trys to grasp at the idea of western colonialism and racism, it only scratches the surface never really deciding were it stands. Although this has been championed as one of they greatest diverse films it is not and I would recommend you to check out '12 years a Slave', 'Get Out' or 'Moonlight' who do a much better job than this meager attempt. The plot is by the numbers the direction is nothing special.
Chadwick Boseman's acting is rather stilted and you can never attach to his character. Michael B Jordan is a one note villian who also struggles, phoning in a performance spouting monologues about messages that never really click. But where the movie really falls on its face is the third act which is cgi heavy and looks like its out of a video game. Black Panther by no means is terrible its below average and the concept of Wakanda is an excellent and well excuted idea.
But this movie just needs to go that little bit deeper and seprate itself from the tired superhero formula.
I am posting this here in a separate thread as well as in the tech issues, so that it is likely to be noticed.First of all, I posted this fix also in the Rite of Passage: Heart of the Storm forum, where this became an issue AFTER that game was updated. I would hope that Big Fish and the Devs would acknowledge this and either fix the issue for Windows 10 users, or at least advise these users of the temporary fix to open up the game. (This may affect Mac or other operating systems but I can only speak to Windows 10.)Here is the fix:Change your display setting to 125% and the game opens up and displays fine.
Of course, you have to change it back to 100% after you're finished. For those who have Windows 10, the quick and easy way to change this is to:-Right click on the desktop screen-select 'Display Settings'-click the 'slider' to 125%(Do the above before you open up the game)I hope this helps. Hi BetteG:I'm sorry this didn't work for you, because this is the third game for me that I have experienced this problem, and it has worked for me every time.Since I'm not a tech expert, the only thing I can think of is to ask you a couple of questions, to see if you actually have your computer on the 125% display:-Is your display (fonts and everything) much larger than before? (after you change the slider to 125%)-Even though I don't have to do this on my computer.did you tap on 'apply' before getting out of the display settings?-This I'm not sure of, but I have read where some computers will not accept this change until you do a restart.I wish I could think of others things to help, but maybe some other 'techie' person out there could step in and offer some advice. I know that this works, but I'm not knowledgeable enough to know whether this won't work on some computers.I have a new HP Envy All-In-One PC.Maybe you could post back with more info on what type PC or laptop you have, and go back over the steps you tried (I may not have explained it well).Since I know without a doubt this is what will work, I would like to figure out how to get it to work for you or anyone else having this problem. To OldManRiver:I'm glad it works for you, but, I don't think a patch was incorporated.
I uninstalled and reinstalled, but it still opens up with a black screen with sound only, for me.that is unless I change the display setting to 125%.So. Don't know why it works on some Windows 10 and not on others, but since this has been an issue for a lot of windows 10 users, and it has happened on 2 of this Dev's games, you would think that this issue would be addressed or at least of concern to BF and the Devs.My concern is not just with this particular game (not sure if I'm buying it yet), but with any future game.
The only way to hopefully get things fixed is by trying to make everyone aware that the problem does exist, and that there is a way around it until (or if) it gets fixed. Hi Everyone,I wanted to stop in to address the issue people have been noticing with the black screen in the game. Skpjazz, thank you for taking the time to post that suggestion for a workaround. Adjusting the graphics settings on a computer can definitely help if there are problems with the display. If people continue to see an issue with the screen, I encourage taking a look at the help articles I've included below. They include a variety of steps that can help when a game is having trouble playing:If the problem is persisting, we recommend contacting our Technical Support Team with a for further troubleshooting. Unfortunately we don't have the tools in the forums to look into this further.
However, our Reps are always willing to help, and can gather data on issues in order to provide customized troubleshooting steps. I'm also going to pass along these posts so that the right team can see them.As this is regarding a technical issue, I'm going to go ahead and lock this thread.
